Rapides Regional Medical Center to host free blood pressure checks

Heart disease is the number 1 cause of death for men and women in the United States and half of American adults have high blood pressure.

In recognition of February being American Heart Month, Rapides Regional Medical Center is showing support for our community by holding heart checks during the month.

Rapides Regional Medical Center’s Employee Health and Community Education Department will offer free blood pressure checks and blood pressure education from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the main hallway of the hospital on:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 5
  • Wednesday, Feb. 12
  • Wednesday, Feb. 26

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control. High blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease, and nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, yet 1 in 4 with high blood pressure have it under control.
