Our accomplished surgical team performs both inpatient and outpatient surgeries, using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.

Types of surgeries we perform

With a multidisciplinary surgical team at our disposal, we are able to provide high-quality care to more people. Above all, our priority is being able to effectively treat as many people as possible and use leading-edge surgeries to affect the most lives.

Cancer surgery

Our surgical oncologists can perform a wide range of minimally-invasive robot-assisted surgeries for people who meet certain qualifications. We perform many procedures to both diagnose and treat cancer, including:

  • Bone marrow biopsies
  • Insertion of central venous catheters
  • Paracentesis
  • Spinal taps
  • Thoracentesis

Cardiovascular surgery

Your heart and vascular systems inform the health of the rest of your body. Ensuring they are properly cared for when experiencing serious issues is critical for long-term wellness. In this pursuit, we are equipped to perform numerous cardiovascular procedures, including:

  • Ablation
  • Atherectomy
  • Balloon angioplasty
  • Coronary stenting
  • Defibrillator implantation
  • Heart failure monitoring system implantation
  • Left atrial appendage closure (LAA)
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Traditional heart surgery
  • Transcatheter aortic replacement valve (TAVR)

TAVR

Your aortic valve can progressively narrow as you age, the process of which is called aortic stenosis. This narrowing can cause restrictive symptoms, and make it difficult to perform daily tasks such as grocery shopping, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.

When treating this issue, TAVR is a less invasive option than traditional heart surgery for replacing aortic valves. Performed with catheters in a dedicated cardiac catheterization lab, TAVR involves a surgeon inserting a new valve into the heart through a catheter in the femoral artery.

Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery

Our specialists offer advanced gastroenterology, hepatology (liver) and therapeutic endoscopy services. This includes addressing gastrointestinal conditions through surgical procedures, such as:

  • Argon plasma coagulation
  • Banding esophageal varices
  • Esophagus dilation
  • Polypectomies
  • Single balloon enteroscopy

General surgery

General surgeons are able to address conditions affecting a variety of bodily areas, such as:

  • Abdomen
  • Blood vessels
  • Digestive tract
  • Endocrine system

  • Skin
  • Soft tissue

Gynecological surgery

Our surgeons perform a range of surgeries to address gynecological conditions, including:

  • Painful periods and heavy bleeding
  • Pelvic pain
  • Uterine fibroids

Neurosurgery

Treating and managing nervous system disorders often involves many different healthcare providers across multiple specialties. Our hospital's highly advanced neurological surgery suite contains advanced technologies that are only available at a small selection of hospitals around the country.

This technology allows us to perform specialized neurosurgical procedures, including:

  • Deep-brain stimulations for epilepsy or Parkinson’s disease
  • Operations to address complex brain tumors
  • Specialized spine procedures for conditions such as scoliosis

Orthopedic surgery

We apply leading-edge technologies and an advanced skillset to address orthopedic issues at all complexity levels, including situations involving traumatic injuries.

Orthopedic procedures we offer include:

  • Arthroscopic surgery on shoulders and upper extremities
  • Foot and ankle surgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Hip and knee joint replacement
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • Regenerative joint injection
  • Robotic knee replacement
  • Shoulder joint replacement

Weight loss surgery

We can perform weight loss surgery if you meet the criteria for being considered morbidly obese. This is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or having a BMI of 35 to 39.9 and being diagnosed with one or more serious conditions.

If undergoing weight loss surgery, success will ultimately be defined by your willingness to commit to the guidelines of a postoperative diet and exercise program. These lifestyle changes are critical for long-term success after surgery, and you will thoroughly discuss them with your doctor.

Hybrid OR

Our hybrid OR combines the capabilities of a heart catheterization lab, radiology suite and a traditional OR. This advanced setup gives us the flexibility to optimize surgical procedures, and is an ideal environment for surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists and electrophysiologists to combine their skills and expertise.

Other potential benefits include:

  • Enhanced options for surgeons and cardiologists
  • Improved surgical efficiency
  • Leading-edge imaging capabilities
  • Multiple procedures done in the same room
  • Reductions in anesthesia
  • Structural heart capabilities

Procedures we offer in the hybrid OR include:

  • Convergence – Collaborative effort between a cardiac surgeon and an electrophysiologist to effectively treat patients with chronic atrial fibrillation
  • Minimally invasive heart implants — Procedures designed to reduce the risk of strokes that originate in the left atrial appendage
  • TAVR — Minimally invasive procedure done to replace a narrowed aortic valve (aortic stenosis) without performing traditional surgery
  • Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) — Hybrid approach to carotid revascularization combining the protection of surgery with the benefits of less invasive surgery

Outpatient surgery services

We offer convenient outpatient surgical procedures, so you can recover from the comfort of your own home. Our team includes nurses certified in ambulatory surgery or critical care, and our dedicated staff has decades of experience in these areas.

Outpatient surgery preparation

There are several outpatient surgery guidelines you need to follow when coming for outpatient surgery, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Robot-assisted surgery

We perform many colorectal, gynecology, bariatric and general surgeries using leading-edge robotic technology. These tools give our surgeons greater precision, control and the ability to access hard-to-reach areas. As a result, we can execute complex operations through just a few small incisions when treating people who qualify for these procedures.

Getting minimally invasive surgery offers you potential benefits that may include:

  • Faster recovery
  • Less pain
  • Minimal scarring
  • Shorter hospital stay

Specialty practice areas in which we can use robotic-assisted surgery include:

  • Colorectal surgery
  • General surgery
  • Gynecological surgery
  • Weight loss surgery
