What to expect at the ER

An emergency room visit differs from a standard doctor's appointment in several key ways. We follow a triage and registration process that helps you get proper care as soon as possible.

Registration process

The registration clerk will ask for details about your medical record, including billing information. The clerk will also obtain authorization for treatment from your insurance company, if you have insurance coverage. Everyone who comes to the ER will be medically screened, evaluated and stabilized, regardless of their insurance coverage status or their ability to pay.

Triage process

A triage nurse will assess you upon your arrival, and evaluate your symptoms and vital signs. Your priority of treatment is based on the severity of your illness, as determined by the trauma nurse.

Our team will see you in the order of your arrival time, unless we determine that you are seriously ill or unstable. Medical situations deemed a time-sensitive emergency will get top priority, meaning we will take them to the treatment area immediately.

Choosing the right ER

When you choose our ER, you gain the benefit of dedicated care at an emergency facility that specializes in trauma, stroke and cardiovascular care.
