Rapides Regional Medical Center is sponsoring Louisiana Christian University's Walktober, LCU's annual fall fitness challenge.

Walktober runs the month of October. Participants track and record their steps or minutes of physical activity every day. Prizes will be awarded for the top three overall participants and awards for each age group with the most steps.

Participants may use a fitness tracker or a smartphone app to indicate how many steps or minutes they log go daily. Participants will receive an email with a link to log how many steps/minutes they have recorded for the week.

Participants are invited to use the Parrish Fuller Fitness Trail on the LCU campus. It is a 0.4-mile track open to the public. It includes fitness equipment along the route, as well.

All physical activity counts. Simply use a step equivalency chart for more information on how to convert other forms of exercising to steps/minutes.

Walktober is a physical activity challenge funded by a Healthy Behaviors Program Grant from The Rapides Foundation and sponsored by Rapides Regional Medical Center.

For more information, contact the Health & Exercise Science Department at Louisiana Christian University. Email Sonia Tinsley or call 318-487-7396.
