Treatments and services for breast health
Getting a mammogram is one of the best things a woman can do to protect her longtime health. Through routine visits and testing, catching breast cancer early can make it easier to treat.
Screening mammogram information
The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends that women ages 40 and older have a mammogram every year. Women with a higher risk of breast cancer should speak with a doctor about whether they need to begin having mammograms at a younger age, adding extra screening tests or getting more frequent exams.
We offer more accurate 3D mammograms, which provide greater visibility, reducing the need for additional screening. The 3D process is the same as a conventional 2D exam, only the results are often more accurate.
What to expect during a 3D mammogram
During this exam, the technologist will position you, compress your breast and take images from different angles. There's no additional compression required, and it only takes a few extra seconds.
3D mammograms allow doctors to examine your breast tissue layer by layer. Instead of viewing all the complexities of your breast tissue in a flat image, as is typical with conventional 2D mammography, fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below.
Our 3D exams are a more accurate diagnostic method for women of all ages, with both dense and non-dense breasts. 3D Mammography delivers a low dose of radiation, well within FDA guidelines, comparable to a 2D mammogram.
